How To Do White Scratchboard With Color |
|
I don't use oil with scratchboard much, but I feel I have a better feel for detail with oil than with any other paint. I wanted to make the chimp as realistic as possible so I opted to use oil. |

Scratchboard with Oil Paint |
|
This is basically the same process as with white scratchboard with transparent acrylic. Here I have painted the hairy portions of the chimp with scratchable ink. Then I scratched it. Now is the time to spray it with fixative. Do not spray it after you add the oil paint. It makes the paint curdle. |

The background was completely covered with white acrylic paint. This sealed the chalk for the oil paint I used to make the fabric wrinkles. It also makes it easier to keep clean |

I painted the face , hand, and foot with white acrylic as well. Then I painted in the details of the face, hand, and foot with oil paint |
